Do it Yourself: Cheap Homemade Baby Food!

So, yesterday I scored some super cheap Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers at Community Market! I like to use the steamed veggies to make homemade baby food.

The cost of one bag of veggies was just $0.55/bag! 1 bag of baby food will make 8 (2 oz) servings of baby food. Let's break it down. 1 serving of homemade baby food is just $0.07!! The cost of a 2 oz jar of baby food in the store costs $0.50!

Here's how you can make your own healthy and cheap baby food (Thanks to my work buddy, Melinda, for introducing me to homemade baby food):

Steam your veggies according to the directions on the bag. I used sweet peas for this demo.

Place your steamed veggies in a blender or food processor. I like to use the Magic Bullet.

Blend the veggies to your desired consistancy. If your little one is just starting on baby food, add some formula or breast milk to thin them out a little.

Spoon blended veggies into ice cube trays. Place in freezer until frozen. The nice thing about the ice cube tray method is that 1 cube=1 oz of baby food.

Place frozen cubes in a freezer bag, and keep frozen until ready to eat.

Thaw appropriate amount of cubes for a serving and enjoy!
